How to look awake even when you don’t feel it!
As much as I love a good glam session, most mornings all I have time for is a quick once over with some of my favorite products so I don’t look like I’m straight out of The Walking Dead. It has taken me quite some time, but I have found products I really love that help me achieve looking awake when in reality I am a “Mombie.” Before applying any makeup I am sure to start with my skincare routine. Cleanser, toner, moisturizer, eye cream, and the “oh so important” SPF!
I picked up Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water as an impulse buy with little expectations. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I ended up LOVING this product! It has an amazing cooling sensation and shortly after using it my under eyes are noticeably less puffy. I have also noticed a difference in the way my concealer applies. In my opinion this product acts as a primer for concealer and hey, I’m not complaining! My under eye area feels great after using it and looks great? SOLD.
The next product that has recently made its way into my morning routine is IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination™ Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer. I am not going to lie to you, I had to go back to the Sephora website multiple times to make sure I got the name correct. Could that be any longer? However, they had me at “bye bye under eye.” If you are familiar with the original Bye Bye Under Eye formula, the texture and consistency are the same. If this product is entirely new to you, the consistency is very tacky and thick which can be off putting at first. What is different about this product from the original is that it claims to not only cover under eye darkness and bags but also brighten that area as well. Well, it does! I was never crazy about the consistency of the original bye bye under eye concealer and that made me a bit apprehensive to purchase this one; though the coverage of the original was too good not to take a gamble on this one. It definitely conceals under eye circles and darkness as well as giving you that extra brightness to help make you look awake.
Mac Cosmetics Chromagraphic Pencil in NC15/NW20 in your waterline will you give you that bright eyed and bushy tailed look before taking your first sip of coffee! I have been using this for years and it has never failed me. Eyes are a dead giveaway for how tired someone is and this pencil is an instant wake-me-up. For the longest time I was a diehard black eyeliner girl, and while I still am for a lot of night time looks, this nude liner in the morning is a game changer. It gives you that little extra something without being over the top.
As a rule I am a false lash wearer; but I do not always have the time to apply them. I want my lashes to look voluminous without always having to put in the effort. Cue the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara. This is the last step for me to feel like I look like I am ready to tackle the day when in reality I just want to crawl back in bed for an extra hour. It curls and adds the volume I need for the perfect day time makeup. I use an eyelash curler and apply 1-2 coats of this mascara and I can be out the door feeling like I look presentable.
